Fedora 45 should run on Raspberry Pi 5 with caveats

Peter Robinson describes the state of Fedora support for the Raspberry Pi 5: Fedora 45 should work, with limitations, on all Model 5B variants, while the Compute Module 5 and Pi 500+ remain in development.

According to Peter Robinson's post, as relayed by the LWN feed, the next release, Fedora 45, should work, with caveats, on all Raspberry Pi Model 5B variants. The Compute Module 5 and Pi 500+ are still in development. For Fedora 44 a temporary workaround is needed at boot, but updating promptly to the latest kernel and firmware removes that need after the first boot. Fedora 45 does not need the workaround, and Robinson suggests starting with one of the release candidate variants.

According to the report, there is an accelerated desktop with storage, networking and USB. Audio and some other features are not yet supported. To verify the details, consult Robinson's original post, which includes instructions for creating a Fedora image for the Raspberry Pi 5. The source is an automatic translation, so check the technical terms in the original before installing. The topic concerns operating systems and hardware and has no direct connection to the Rota Nacional platform.
