USN-8886-1: Linux kernel security update for NVIDIA Tegra and several subsystems

Ubuntu Security notice describes fixes across many Linux kernel subsystems, including NVIDIA Tegra drivers, file systems and networking, with a long list of cited CVEs.

Notice USN-8886-1, published on October 6, 2026 in the Ubuntu Security feed, states that an update fixes several security problems in the Linux kernel. According to the text, an attacker could possibly use them to compromise the system. The fixes cover NVDIMM drivers, the Handshake API, ARM32, ARM64, MIPS, OpenRISC, PowerPC, S390 and x86 architectures, the block layer, the crypto API, Android, Bluetooth, TPM, GPU, IOMMU, USB, network and storage drivers, and the BTRFS, Ceph, EROFS, exFAT, F2FS, FUSE, NFS, NTFS3, OCFS2, SMB, UDF and XFS file systems. The notice also mentions BPF, cgroups, memory, security, audio and KVM subsystems, among others. The title highlights NVIDIA Tegra drivers. The copy available here contains a very long run of CVE identifiers, including CVE-2025-37807 and CVE-2026-23265, and ends before the list is complete, so the exact total cannot be stated. To consult the original, search for the notice number USN-8886-1 on Canonical's Ubuntu security notices page and check the full CVE list, affected package versions and fixed versions. Rota Nacional does not patch operating system kernels and does not replace this process. If your organization runs Linux on its own infrastructure, the safe action is to apply the vendor update under your maintenance policy.
