What Granite Switch 4.1 is

IBM released Granite Switch 4.1 on October 15, 2026, in 8B and 30B parameter versions. Each version brings four functions together in one endpoint:

  • Chat and summaries, from the Granite base model.
  • General decisions: yes-or-no questions and request classification.
  • Safety rules (Guardian). According to IBM, this adapter outperforms other decision models on safety tasks, on average.
  • Speech transcription, with Granite-Speech-5.0-Turbo-CTC, the fastest on the OpenASR leaderboard, according to IBM.

The adapters use about the same GPU memory as the base model alone. In practice, you get four functions for the GPU cost of one. The model runs on vLLM.

Who it is for

  • Hospitals and clinics: transcribe the visit, write the summary and check whether the text carries data that must not leave.
  • Public health and government call centers: transcribe calls, classify the subject and flag what needs a person.
  • Public bodies: apply content rules before the answer reaches the citizen.

Why through Rota Nacional

  • It can run on our workers only. An organization that did not accept sending data to external providers can use it too.
  • Privacy stays as a layer. By default, CPF and CNPJ numbers, email addresses, phone numbers and names leave the text before the model. The organization decides whether to turn it on or off, with recorded consent.
  • Same API, same billing. The model joins the OpenAI-compatible endpoint you already use, with usage records and credit in reais.
